Sharon is a licensed mental health counselor in MA and RI with over 35 years of experience and expertise working in child welfare, criminal justice, inpatient and outpatient mental health and substance use facilities. She has provided individual treatment as well as clinical supervision to staff working in these settings. Sharon has worked with all ages of the life span and has provided treatment to individuals, couples, and families. She has treated individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, mood disorders, substance use disorders, trauma, behavioral issues, women's issues, life stressors, transitions and loss. Sharon also works with the LGBTQIA population and is a strong advocate for those who identify with that community. Her approach to therapy is always person-centered, non-judgemental, and believes that an individual has the inherent capacity and strength to get through whatever it is they are struggling with, even if at the time they don't believe in themselves. Sharon sees therapy as a collaborative process and welcomes feedback from her clients. She is eclectic in her approach and uses a variety of treatment modalities (cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused, mindfulness, and motivational interviewing) depending on the client and the issues that brought them into therapy. She strongly feels that engaging in therapy is a courageous act and feels honored to walk with you in your journey. Sharon's favorite quote is: "One day you will tell the story of how you overcame what you went through and it will be someone else's survival guide."
